Same Katz

So we all spent Christmas/Hannukah a little bit concerned about Aaron Vincent-Elkaim, out in Israel, risking his scrawny un-missed little neck to get images like these:

Here's something topical and timeless by a few of Winnipeg's best:

PROPAGANDHI - HALLIE SELASSIE UP YOUR ASS

http://www.propagandhi.com

On the Winnipeg largesse/photo tip, Dj Co-Op made this:

Dj CO-OP - I TURN MY CAMERA PHONE ON (SPOON vs DA MUSICIANZ) (zshare)

DJ CO OP - DICK IN A BOX refix (direct)

Also, he's got the raddest avatar (geeked up! geeked up!) on the web right now:

I know that I've hyped his parties before, but Co-op and his purrrtner Dj Hunnicut throw the best parties in Winnipeg. That might seem like having the hottest throw up in De Moines, but it's more like being the first dude to bottle drinking water on the moon...and teach it to dance. They'll be shredding Canada next month, get warm. Hunnicut has also been known to accompany these next guys, because comedy is a party.

Crumbs homies, under the pressures of an adoring and devoted global fanbase, finally re-designed this: CRUMBS.CA

All for now, gotta go get some work as a "North American Voice", and email friends in safety or danger. You all should do the same.

RIAA - Records Irellevant Affluence Attacking

The Dj Drama/Cannon fiasco continues, please see Houston So Real.

Of the new points, the most salient for my pound is "Not about mixtapes." I'd love to bring the debater out and editorialize, but I'm not in America, I'll let them handle it, they're doing the best they can to keep the pulse on a ridiculous sham.

Neil Young - Don't Let It Bring You Down

If there's on relative truism in today's world of music, it's that respect matters more than the industry. Talent wins. That's the game right now, for better or worse. Goons from the other team will always target star players first.

Dj Trauma

Rushed into production despite the epic post I've been cooking up, is this story:

The RIAA has raided the Atlanta studio of Dj Drama and Dj Cannon. I find it laughable yet saddening that the RIAA, a body that claim they are protecting artists would raid the studio of important hip hop artists. It is a vilainous and ridiculous move by the RIAA that will only embitter those that are using the internet to free music from the industry and place it in the control of artists and fans.

In the following Fox News Atlanta report, we learn that they also confiscated cars and computers, and were hoping to find guns and drugs. We live in wild times, when the Recording Industry cracks down on the massive source of free advertising that are mixtapes, calling it rackateering.

"The robbed that smiles, steals something from the thief"
-Othello, 1. 3

I'll never understand how these people miss the point so severely. It is endlessly frustrating that the industry and the government are working together to slow the ineveitable weakening. Ears and brains won, the internet helped. Raiding artists studios does not help the music business. These cheap, racist punks are fighting a costly and counterproductive battle that they can only prolong, but never win.

Fox News Atlanta Reports on Dj Drama and Dj Cannon RIAA Raid

The scurrilous Matt Kilgo from the RIAA is rocked to his core by the fact that they use the internet to market mixes. My response were we sat down in Atlanta, me drinking a frosty Rolling Rock, he on his fourth straw slurped can of Diet Surge, I would say:

OF COURSE THEY USE THEIR WEBSITE TO MARKET IT! THAT'S HOW KIDS FIND OUT ABOUT STUFF! THAT'S HOW ARTISTS GET EXPOSED! THE INTERNET!

I'll just let a Weezy and Drama jam soothe the anger, after all, it's a cemented mongolith in the pantheon of recent hip hop.

And die in music.

Visit myspace.com/djdrama to shout some support in the earnest and powerful messageboardimonial fashion. Plus, the first track on the page is prescient on the content signifigance tip.

They're just upset that they don't have the savvy to play the game. Too bad for them. It's about music for us. But as Lil Wayne says in Cannon, "It's about money it's bigger than me." Hopefully time proves him wrong, and the industry grows up.

Jealous souls will not be answered so;
They are not ever jealous for the cause,
But jealous for they are jealous.
Othello, 3. 4

Dj Drama, Mr Thanksgiving, don't take any guff from these pitiable fucking swine.
